Drug Eruptions in Children - Review
Ümit Ukşal
Summary Drug eruptions in children are not as frequent as in adults but can be confused with viral, bacterial and collagen vascular diseases. In addition to the difficulties in differential diagnosis, recognition of skin rashes as an early sign of a serious adverse reaction to drugs may be very important to both pediatricians and dermatologists. Systemic drug reactions may be life-threatening in children and early diagnosis is of prognostic importance. Drug eruptions from a clinical point of view and a summary of the laboratory findings are reviewed in this article. (Turkish Journal of Dermatology 2007; 1: 15-20) Key words: Drug eruptions, adverse drug reaction, children
